"Galatea", Michael Cunningham, 1978
A 15’ tall acrylic abstract from the 1970s Art Movement depicting the mythological Ancient Greek female statue that came to life to seduce the Greek sculptor Pygmalion ca 500 BC.
Commissioned by Trammel Crow in 1978 for the Anatole Hotel. The magnificent sculpture reflecting light throughout the atrium was the focal point of the lobby for over two decades.
Signed by the artist on the base, acrylic cast and hand carved by the artist, commissioned by Trammel Crow and accompanied by original installation photographs.

Victor Salmones (1937-1989) was the most widely known sculptor living and working in Mexico during his lifetime. His sculptures won him universal acclaim and are held in the collections of museums, corporations, cities, universities and private collectors in some 30 countries. During his career, he was highly sought after and increasingly involved in the execution of commissions for major public works around the world.
