War 1812 – General James Miller
General James Miller – solid gold presented by the citizens of New York, he was also presented a gold medal by US Congress. Similar to the Winfield Scott and the Capt Stewart, this was presented by the citizens of New York and made by the goldsmith A. Targee; it is 1 of only 6 swords known to exist by this New York goldsmith. Presented to him for his battles against the British and their Indian allies at Fort Detroit where he was captured. He latter became the 1st Governor of the newly formed Western Territory of Arkansas in 1819!
