Catalog was called Portraits of Washington by Rembrandt Peale from the Collection of the late John Wanamaker and of the late Rodman Wanamaker, Parke Bernet Galleries, Inc., New York, November 2, 1939. Art News called it: "One of the highlights . . . is the masterful bust length portrait of George Washington by Rembrandt Peale, his astute biographer on canvas."
